Takase tea is produced in the hills of Takase, Mitoyo City in Kagawa Prefecture, Shikoku — a small but respected tea-growing region known for its balanced flavor and refined aroma.

The region accounts for nearly 80% of Kagawa Prefecture’s tea production, while representing only around 0.2% of Japan’s total tea output. Most Takase tea is consumed locally within Kagawa Prefecture, making it relatively rare outside the region.

Tea cultivation in Takase expanded in the late 1950s as part of a regional agricultural development effort. Soon after production began, Takase tea received recognition at regional tea competitions and was later presented during an imperial visit.

Today, Takase tea is appreciated for its elegant aroma and harmonious balance of sweetness and pleasant bitterness.

Sencha "Keiho"

“Keiho” is a sencha produced by the Takase Tea Farm Cooperative using tea leaves harvested around early May.

The tea is carefully processed to preserve the natural umami of the leaves while maintaining a refreshing aroma and refined sweetness.

With its smooth character, gentle sweetness, and clean finish, this tea can be enjoyed daily and also brews well with slightly hotter water temperatures.
