Based in Kesennuma, a city devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, Sato-san lost both his home and business. But he had his life, his family, and the drive to restart his life anew. From the temporary housing facility where he and his family currently live, he has built relationships with mulberry farms and processing facilities, and launched Kesennuma Kuwacha Eitoku, selling the healthy, caffeine-free mulberry leaf as a tea leaf and tea powder. The new company was launched in part with a grant from NVIDA, and a wonderful write-up on Sato-san can be read here.
