Mino no Aji Premium Barista Grade – Shirakawa

Gifu Prefecture is home to several respected tea-growing regions, and Shirakawa is among the most celebrated. Our Mino no Aji Premium Barista Grade is named Shirakawa, after this renowned tea-producing area known for its high-quality teas and rich tea-growing heritage.

This matcha is made from first-flush Okumidori tencha grown in Shirakawa, Gifu. The tea plants are carefully cultivated from soil preparation through harvest without the use of pesticides, allowing the character of the tea and the surrounding environment to shine through.

The tencha is carefully dried using a traditional brick-built tencha furnace, a distinctive technique preserved in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture. Afterward, it is slowly ground into matcha with a stone mill, following time-honored methods that bring out the tea's deep aroma, vivid green color, and refined taste.

Combining carefully cultivated Shirakawa tencha with traditional Nishio matcha-making techniques, this matcha offers a smooth, well-rounded flavor with pleasant umami, gentle sweetness, and a fresh green aroma. Its balanced profile makes it an excellent choice for matcha lattes while also being enjoyable prepared as matcha.
