While matcha is the green tea powder that is most famous, there are many producers in Japan who produce green tea powder that is not matcha. Created from tea leaves other than tencha, these also include powdered genmaicha and hojicha. 

Powdered green tea is also produced and sold because it may contain a high level of catechin (an antioxidant), one that is higher than matcha. This also makes the tea quite bitter, but very healthy.
